What is the Golden Censer?
Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. 4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake. (Revelation 8: 3-5)
The Golden Censer
The Golden Censer earthquake heralds the beginning of the 7 trumpets. That would make it a very significant earthquake. While there are several major earthquakes that took place around the globe near the turn of the century, the Golden Censer appears to have been manifested in one of the worst natural disasters in the history of the United States of America: the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
The San Francisco Earthquake of 1906
The unprecedented earthquake of 1906 and devastating fires that followed destroyed over 80 percent of the city and killed about 3,000 people.[i] More than 70 percent of the people were left homeless: almost 300,000 people out of a population of about 410,000. Approximately 25,000 buildings were destroyed and the fires burned for several days and nights. The financial cost of the damage from the earthquake and resulting fires was estimated at about $400 million[ii] (over $9.5 trillion in 2014 dollars)[iii].
