What Nations will be Destroyed by God?

map -middle east from spaceThe Holy Bible says that at the End of this Age, God will punish the nations for blaspheming Him, for taking His holy land, for hating Israel, and for destroying the earth. Some nations will be disciplined but allowed to remain. Some nations will be entirely destroyed.

The Holy Bible lists specific nations by name. These prophesies were written hundreds of years before Islam ever existed. Yet, the nations that God lists by name for destruction currently have one thing in common: ALL are Islamic-controlled.

Moab & Ammonites

10 The hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain; but Moab will be trampled in their land as straw is trampled down in the manure. (Isaiah 25: 10)

“I have heard the insults of Moab and the taunts of the Ammonites, who insulted my people and  made threats against their land. Therefore, as surely as I live,” declares the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, “surely Moab will become like Sodom, the Ammonites like Gomorrah— a place of weeds and salt pits, a wasteland forever.  (Zephaniah 2: 8-9)

At the end of this age God will completly destroy Moab and the Ammonites. It will be as with Sodom and Gomorrah: Moab and the Ammonites will be a wasteland forever. Both Moab and  Ammon were located in part of what is now known as Jordan.

Edom

For the Lord has a day of vengeance, a year of retribution, to uphold Zion’s cause. Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch, her dust into burning sulfur; her land will become blazing pitch! 10 It will not be quenched night or day; its smoke will rise forever. From generation to generation it will lie desolate; no one will ever pass through it again. (Isaiah 34: 8-10)

17 “Edom will become an object of horror; all who pass by will be appalled and will scoff because of all its wounds. 18 As Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown, along with their neighboring towns,” says the Lord, “so no one will live there; no people will dwell in it. (Jeremiah 49: 17-18)

At the end of this age, God will completely destroy Edom. It will be turned into blazing pitch (burning oil). Its smoke will rise forever. It will be desolate and no one will ever pass through it again.

Mount Seir

“Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir; prophesy against it and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against you and make you a desolate waste. I will turn your towns into ruins and you will be desolate. Then you will know that I am the Lord… I will make Mount Seir a desolate waste and cut off from it all who come and go. I will fill your mountains with the slain; those killed by the sword will fall on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines. I will make you desolate forever; your towns will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the Lord. (Ezekiel 35: 2-4, 7-9)

At the end of this age, God will completely destroy Mount Seir. God will make it desolate forever. It will be a desolate waste and the land will be filled with the dead.

Mount Seir & Edom

11 therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will treat you in accordance with the anger and jealousy you showed in your hatred of them and I will make myself known among them when I judge you…13 You boasted against me and spoke against me without restraint, and I heard it. 14 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: While the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate. 15 Because you rejoiced when the inheritance of Israel became desolate, that is how I will treat you. You will be desolate, Mount Seir, you and all of Edom. Then they will know that I am the Lord.’” (Ezekiel 35: 11, 13-15)

this is what the Sovereign Lord says: In my burning zeal I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, for with glee and with malice in their hearts they made my land their own possession so that they might plunder its pastureland.’ (Ezekiel 35: 5)

At the end of this age, God will completely destroy Mount Seir and Edom. God will repay them for the hatred they showed toward Israel. God will take vengeance against them for arrogantly boasting against Him and for taking His land – the holy land that God claimed as His own and the inheritance of His chosen people Israel.

Bozrah

13 I swear by myself,” declares the Lord, “that Bozrah will become a ruin and a curse, an object of horror and reproach; and all its towns will be in ruins forever.” (Jeremiah 49: 13)

Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson? Who is this, robed in splendor, striding forward in the greatness of his strength? “It is I, proclaiming victory, mighty to save.” Why are your garments red, like those of one treading the winepress? “I have trodden the winepress alone; from the nations no one was with me. I trampled them in my anger and trod them down in my wrath; their blood spattered my garments, and I stained all my clothing. It was for me the day of vengeance; the year for me to redeem had come. (Isaiah 63: 1-4)

At the end of this age, God will completely destroy Bozrah. Jesus Christ is the one whose garments are red with blood from treading the winepress of God’s wrath. Bozrah was a land in southern Jordan and the capitol city in Edom.

Babylon

22 “I will rise up against them,” declares the Lord Almighty. “I will wipe out Babylon’s name and  survivors, her offspring and descendants,” declares the Lord. 23 “I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction,” declares the Lord Almighty. (Isaiah 14: 22-23)

39 “So desert creatures and hyenas will live there [Babylon], and there the owl will dwell. It will never again be inhabited or lived in from generation to generation. 40 As I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah along with their neighboring towns,” declares the Lord, “so no one will live there; no people will dwell in it. (Jeremiah 50: 39-40)

41 “Look! An army is coming from the north; a great nation and many kings are being stirred up from the ends of the earth. 42 They are armed with bows and spears; they are cruel and without mercy. They sound like the roaring sea as they ride on their horses; they come like men in battle formation to attack you, Daughter Babylon… 46 At the sound of Babylon’s capture the earth will tremble; its cry will resound among the nations. (Jeremiah 50: 41-42, 46)

“Flee from Babylon! Run for your lives! Do not be destroyed because of her sins. It is time for the Lord’s vengeance; he will repay her what she deserves. Babylon was a gold cup in the Lord’s hand; she made the whole earth drunk. The nations drank her wine; therefore they have now gone mad. (Jeremiah 51: 6-7)

24 “Before your eyes I will repay Babylon and all who live in Babylonia for all the wrong they have done in Zion,” declares the Lord. 25 I am against you, you destroying mountain, you who destroy the whole earth,” declares the Lord. “I will stretch out my hand against you, roll you off the cliffs, and make you a burned-out mountain. 26 No rock will be taken from you for a cornerstone, nor any stone for a foundation, for you will be desolate forever,” declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 51: 24-26)

A second angel followed and said, “‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great,’ which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries.” (Revelation 14: 8)

After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor. With a mighty voice he shouted: “‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’ She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal. For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.” Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “‘Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes. (Revelation 18: 1-5)

21 Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said: “With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found again. (Revelation 18: 21)

At the end of this age, God will completely destroy Babylon. It will be a violent destruction. The end times beast (led by the Antichrist) will hate the prostitute (Babylon). God will use the beast to destroy Babylon. (See: What is the King of the North?) (See: What is the False Prophet?)

Egypt

I will hand the Egyptians over to the power of a cruel master, and a fierce king [the Antichrist] will rule over them,” declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty. (Isaiah 19: 4)

19 In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the heart of Egypt, and a monument to the Lord at its border. 20 It will be a sign and witness to the Lord Almighty in the land of Egypt. When they cry out to the Lord because of their oppressors, he will send them a savior and defender, and he will rescue them. (Isaiah 19: 19-20)

At the end of this age, God will punish Egypt, but God does NOT destroy Egypt. Although God will allow the Antichrist to rule over them, God does not abandon them. In that day, there will be Egyptians that will honor the Lord. When they cry out to God because of their oppressors, He will send the Jewish Messiah (Jesus Christ) to rescue them.

Egypt & Assyria & Israel

23 In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. 24 In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. 25 The Lord Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.” (Isaiah 19: 23-25)

After Armageddon, God will bless Egypt and Assyria and Israel. Together they will worship the Lord God. They will be a blessing on the earth.

The nations / areas that will be completely destroyed are ALL Islamic-controlled:

  • Babylon (part of Iran)
  • Bozrah & Edom (southern Jordan)
  • Moab & Ammonites (middle Jordan)
  • Mount Seir

The nations that will eventually be called a blessing:

  • Israel = my inheritance
  • Egypt = my people
  • Assyria = my handiwork
