What are the 7 Trumpets?

And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. (Revelation 8: 2)

Revelation 1 states that the Apostle John was given visions of what was to come. The 7 Trumpets describe some of the events that will take place as the end of this age draws near. These events are intended to warn humanity that the end of this age is near and motivate people to turn back to God. Therefore, these would be major events that would have a significant impact on the world.

When John recorded what he saw, he had the task of describing things he had never before seen. These visions of the future were of a very different world than the one John knew. The technology associated with modern warfare had not yet been invented. John knew nothing of guns, tanks, helicopters, or explosives. He would have to describe what he saw based on terms that were available in his time.

It appears that most of these Trumpets have been sounded during the past 100 years. According to the Holy Bible, the trumpets began with a golden censer.
